JULIAN SAS and GRAND SLAM!

Amstelveen, P60

02.03.2007

After a long walk around Naarden Burney took me with his "blue car service" to Amstelveen. P60 club is situated on a big square as a part of a shopping center. Not all the hardcore Sas fans like this place, so I appreciated that Cor "The Chief" and Leo came with us. I liked the club and finally everybody had a good time. As I learned a new Dutch expression: "Tsonge Jonge".

Simone Roerade

Support band was the GRAND SLAM! They played various style of music from slow blues to hardrock. The basic of the band Simone Roerade (singer) and Ted Oberg guitarist of the legendary Livin'Blues. They formed a high energy duo on the stage. Simone's behaviour and voice was absolutely female: somtimes hard, sometimes emotional. "Treat Me Like a Lady" - sang the lady who dressed in big boots and in a leather jacket. "The Road's My Middle Name" - I think the band also a favourite guest in moto clubs. I also liked Rob Gebores's piano style. I can imagine him in a real boogie-woogie band. Grand Slam! was good choice before JULIAN SAS BAND

My friends always standing in the front row - in front of the bass player Tenny Tahamata. Last year I saw/heard him in Eindhoven from half a meter so this time I left my friends focusing on Julian. As I remember they start with "Helping Hand". They play old songs "I Believe To My Soul", "Devil Got My Number" mixed with some tracks from the new "Resurrection" album which came out in January. "Burnin' Soul", "Junkies Blues" and others got good reception. Of course the audience knew the lyrics.

Julian Sas

I liked the new songs but I was as exited to hear the "surprise" song. "Take That What I Want" was dedicated Rory Gallagher's birthday anniversary. Rob "Animal" Heijne didn't deny his name - played drums unbelievable fast. Finally "Bullfrog Blues" - the former closing track of the JS band.

After the warm atmosphere concert the band dedicated cd-s, posters in good mood. I'm really proud of my new plectrum. Thank you Tenny. Also thanks for the cd, ticket and beer support to Burney, Cor, Leo, Ellis and Hein. We stayed until the club closed so I caught Julian for a short talk. He said that he was looking forward Paks festival where they had played two times in 2004 and 2005.

Let's meet Julian Sas Band at Gastroblues Festival at Paks, Hungary!
